Event description

Experience Culture Through Cuisine: The 2025 Djinda Ngardak Gala Evening

Join us at the stunning St Aidan Winery for an unforgettable evening celebrating culture, connection, and culinary creativity.

The Djinda Ngardak Gala Evening is a powerful tribute to the culinary talents of Aboriginal youth participating in the Djinda Ngardak Culinary Program. Guided by Elders, local custodians, and some of Australia’s leading chefs, these young participants craft a distinctive dining journey—one that showcases First Nations-inspired cuisine using regional West Australian produce and seasonal native ingredients.

Guests will be welcomed with a complimentary Kepa Kwab, followed by a selection of inventive canapés, First Nations-inspired mocktails, and beautifully crafted storyboard dessert tiles. Immerse yourself in Aboriginal culture through art, local produce, and a special musical performance by Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse.

Djinda Ngardak means “alive under the stars” in Noongar language, so what better way to finish off the evening than with a bit of stargazing through the powerful telescopes provided by the Bunbury Mobile Observatory. Get a closer view of Waakarl (The Milky Way, often described as the path of the Rainbow Serpent) or just sit back and enjoy the Djitti Djitti (twinkling of stars).

This evening is more than a dinner—it’s a celebration of life, culture, and the vibrant future being shaped by our youth. All proceeds support Prepare Produce Provide and its mission to empower vulnerable youth through transformative food education programs.
