Djinda Ngardak Artwork 2023 - Sold

This breathtaking one-of-a-kind Collaborative Artwork 'Connecting Spirit to Country' was created by our 2023 Djinda Ngardak students. The concept was developed and the piece created over the course of the Djinda Ngardak 2023 Program.

This artwork is reflective of the spirit of young people in this beautiful program. As described by our youth ambassador Rishaye Shaw (21-year-old Nyikina woman from Fitzroy Crossing in WA), “Young people in our culture express what's in their heart, all the things that matter. It’s an avenue of celebrating the richness of country, use of language, celebrating and sharing culture.” The artwork features the past, what was achieved together in the present. Sharing what is coming in the future.

This 2023 Artwork was mentored by: Menang Artist - Thomas Dimer, Djinda Ngardak Youth Ambassador Molly West and overseen by Vernice Gillies and family. Created with the 2023 Djinda Ngardak Kinjarling participants.

This piece was Purchased by Great Southern Development Commission. If you are in Albany or find yourself there, please feel free to visit the GSDC and view this incredible piece of art, culture, youth and collaborative education.
