Youth Ambassador - Alby Gower

Kaya, my name is Alby Gower. I am a year ten student at Southwest Community College.

My mob is from Pinjara Whajak Region. I chose to be on the 2025 Djinda Ngardak Culinary camp because I wanted to get out on Boodja, learn more about my culture and its connection to land and food.

As a descendant of someone from the stolen generation, my family never got a chance to learn.

So that's why I want to learn and inspire the next generation.

My favourite part of this camp has been learning more things that I didn't already know. Surrounded by my peers and guided by elders, my food story started young.

I have always liked getting my hands dirty with food and finding a sustainable way to keep doing it like growing food and veggie patch. a couple of years ago, when I was introduced to bushtucker on Wardandi land my passion grew more and more from there, my end goal is to work on country.
