Em Flak

Em is an Occupational Therapist with post grad studies/work in Naturopathy and Neuromodulation Therapies. Em was a Senior Clinician at Perth Brain Centre for 9 years. Other career highlights are first OT Clinical Educator with Majarlin (Kimberley Centre for Remote Health) at the time working with the guidance of Nulungu Research Institute and Nyamba Buru Yawuru. 

EM is Co-creator/Co-owner of The FLACKYARD restaurant now at Lake Leschenaultia. Prior to this she was in the restaurant/business in North QLD, starting in 2018. Em leads the restaurants sourcing and understanding of First Nations foods & botanicals from Elders, Traditional Custodians, Knowledge Keepers, and First Nations owned & led businesses. 

-Em was born and raised between Mullaloo and Moodiarrup in the Wheatbelt WA. Em's Grandmother, a Naturopath, was also a regenerative farmer and followed the guidance of environmentalists and Traditional Custodians (Elders including May Penny), and as a family we replanted large areas of the farm degraded by salinity with edible salt sequestering species like salt bush and samphire. Foods Em’s been growing and eating since she was a child. 

Em is so passionate about holistic health (including First Nations/Indigenous ingredients and food & beverage culture) and no-alcohol drinking alternatives, that she is currently working a day a week with friend Adrian Allier the founder of Free Spirit Drink Co. A Perth based beverages business that stocks Australia's largest range of alcohol-free and functional beverages.
