Courtney is a young chef from Perth, Western Australia. In 2023, she completed her apprenticeship and obtained a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. She then returned to TAFE to complete a Certificate III in Patisserie, which she finished in June 2025.
From a young age, Courtney was always in the kitchen. If she wasn’t cooking, she was watching and learning. Her passion for becoming a chef comes from the way food brings people together. Sharing a meal creates connection and memorable experiences, and being able to contribute to that inspires her every day.
Her culinary journey so far has been filled with many achievements, including being awarded the 2021 WA Apprentice of the Year at the WA Training Awards, which recognised her dedication, skills and passion for the industry. One of her proudest achievements has been her selection for the National Australian Culinary Junior Team. Through the National Team, she has had the privilege of representing Australia at the 2022 Culinary World Cup and the 2024 IKA Culinary Olympics, as well as in other culinary competitions. These experiences have been an important part of her growth and development as a chef.
Courtney’s first competition was the Apprentice of the Year in 2021. She remembers telling herself to just give it a go. On the day, she walked into the kitchen with the simple aim of getting six plates of food up within the allocated time. As the competition went on, all of her dishes were served on time, and she received a bronze medal. After more than ten further competitions, Courtney says she is hooked and loves the challenge that competition brings.
One thing you may want to check: the original says she was “awarded the 2021 WA Apprentice of the Year” but also that she won a bronze medal in that competition. Those could both be true (a competition medal and a separate award), but it’s worth confirming with Courtney so the bio reads clearly.
